Young Hearted 15 was inspired by the untimely death of Tyrek Coger, who lost his life at the age of 22 years old. After practicing with his teammates at Oklahoma State University, Tyrek collapsed and it was later discovered that he had a Left Ventricular Hypertrophy, which is an enlarged heart. Tyrek was a well-known, fun-loving person best known for his larger-than-life personality, his sense of humor, his charm, and his high spirit. One of Tyrek's most memorable basketball moments known to the world was the time he played one-on-one basketball as a high school student with the one and only John Wall, where he playfully trash-talked with Wall. Tyrek had so much love and passion for the game of basketball. He played AAU basketball for Chris Paul's CP3 All-Stars team in high school while also playing for his high school team at Word of God Christian Academy. Upon graduation, he played for Eastern Florida State College, Cape Fear Community College, and then Oklahoma State University during his college years. Many people were affected by the loss of such a spectacular light. Notable NBA players such as Chris Paul, John Wall, and Brandon Ingram knew Tyrek personally, as they all are natives from North Carolina. Tyrek truly will be missed by everyone who knew him personally, including his mother Tomeka Collins, his father Michael Coger JR, his brother Michael Coger 3rd, his friends, his family, his teammates, his coaches.
